There are basically three common materials for tea bags: non-woven fabrics, nylon, and corn fiber.
1. Non-woven tea bags
Non-woven fabric refers to polypropylene (PP), which is the same material as the mask fabric.
2. Nylon tea bags
Nylon is a petrochemical product. There are many categories. It is very common in life, so I won't talk about it.
Both of the above can be made edible, otherwise it would not be possible to make tea bags. The better tea bags I buy in Southeast Asia are nylon bags. If they are popular in Lipton, they have more non-woven fabrics. Even if you use the best materials for these two types, there is no way to solve the problem of high temperature and long-term soaking. Microplastics will be released. If they are of inferior quality, they will release more toxic substances. Therefore, you can not use these two. You don’t need to plant it. If you really want to use it, you must have a reliable channel to buy high-quality tea bags. High soaking.
3. Corn fiber tea bags
As for corn fiber, it is the best and the least among the three materials. This corn fiber is not the fiber we usually talk about when we eat, and it is not the kind of corn fiber you see. It is a kind of polylactic acid (PLA). The biodegradable material is also called "corn plastic" in the United States, also called polylactic acid fiber and PLA fiber. The unit price is much more expensive than the other two, at least twice. Moreover, the current global output is very high. Now that the global ban on plastics is being pushed, the demand for PLA is higher, and the production capacity is still increasing. It is estimated that it will be better in three to five years, but in fact, the production capacity is still far from enough.
Most of the corn fiber tea bags on the market are fake. You can tell by burning them on a fire, depending on whether they are burned into ashes or burned into grains.
Therefore, the preferred order of the three tea bags is:
1. Corn fiber (polylactic acid PLA)
2. Other high-quality non-woven fabrics and nylon.
It’s just that it’s difficult to buy real corn fiber tea bags, so it is recommended that if you just use it yourself, use stainless steel tea balls if you are not sure about buying genuine corn fiber tea bags.
