In recent decades, the idea of tea bags has gained a large following and revolutionized the tea industry. Changes in lifestyle have led to busy schedules, stimulating demand for such quick alternatives. Purists may argue that tea bags may not provide you with a suitable cup of tea, but we continue to see innovations to promote brewing and improve the quality of the cup, especially for those looking for a quick brew.
Tea bags are said to have originated in China in the 8th century. Paper is folded and sewn on both sides to store tea leaves to preserve the flavor and aroma. Although innovation came early, the first commercial tea bags were only sold in the first decade of the 1900s.
Subsequently, tea bags have undergone many iterations-pot bags, single-chamber bags, double-chamber bags, round tea bags, cloth bags, etc. However, none of these options provide a brewing effect comparable to traditional tea brewing.
Pyramid tea bags are a fairly new development, more specifically by Brooke Bond in 1997. The pyramid structure of tea bags provides more capacity. This means that in addition to being able to carry large-leaf tea, the extra space can also allow more space for the tea to unfold perfectly, release their deliciousness, and make better tea.

Most pyramid bags are usually transparent, so that the mixed ingredients can be better seen; especially in the case of specialty teas and mixed fruit and flower teas, the aesthetic aspects of the tea are highlighted, while ordinary tea bags are not. Compared with ordinary tea bags, pyramid tea bags have many advantages, as listed below.
More tea per bag
Due to the inherent limitations of ordinary tea bags, only dust-type or minimum grade tea can be packaged. In addition to the size of the tea leaves, another limitation is the amount of tea leaves that can be contained in ordinary paper tea bags. However, the larger volume of Pyramid tea bags allows the packaging of higher density teas and/or larger tea leaves, each with a maximum of 4 grams, which is significantly higher than the contents of ordinary tea bags.
Various flavors
Since there is more space inside the tea bag, various ingredients can be packed into the tea, including but not limited to whole leaves, flowers, spices, fruit slices, peels, etc. In other words, this space allows elements to be added to the visual and aromatic characteristics of the mixture, thereby enhancing the overall tea drinking experience for consumers.

Fast and consistent brewing
Since the pyramid tea bags are made of mesh material, compared with paper and cloth tea bags, tea bags have significantly higher porosity. This means that the tea is well brewed and the result is a rich wine. Higher porosity also means faster soaking, which means fresher and faster brewing. Contrary to ordinary tea bags, when the tea is steeped, the water will cool down. Pyramid tea bags can provide warmer and better brewing every time.
Unlike ordinary tea bags, pyramid bags do not have to be soaked in the cup for a long time. Therefore, tea will not be over brewed, and the basic inherent antioxidant properties of tea will not be destroyed in the process.
