Rizhao green tea has unique and excellent qualities such as dry tea, dark green color, bright yellow green color after brewing, rich chestnut aroma, sweet aftertaste, thick leaves, high aroma, and tolerance to brewing. It is known as the "new gem of Chinese green tea". In March 2006, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China approved the implementation of geographical indication product protection for Rizhao green tea.
Rizhao has been successful in "moving tea from the south to the north" since 1966. The existing tea garden covers an area of 120000 mu, with an annual output of 1500 tons of tea, accounting for more than 50% of Shandong Province. It is the largest green tea production base in Shandong Province, with the output ranking first in the province for six consecutive years, known as "the first tea in the north". Among them, the 1000 acre organic tea in Jufeng Town, Lanshan District has passed the certification of the European Union International Organic Food Development Center and obtained the "pass" of the European Union market.
